I have a really nice Svt-40 with a nice clean bore, and solid stock.

Whats its true value?

Gun Broker is running 800+

What say thee..........? I was thinking  to sell or swap it but was curious as to its realistic value

FWIW they originally sold from SOG for $400 or so, but that was at least 10+ years ago. They are still fairly rare and I think a nice one should be worth $650+ easy.

$650 is a good guess sight unseen

$700 if it has the sniper rails on the recevier

$800 easy.
A typical Russian refurb (Plum bolt, shellac finish, electropenciled seriral numbers) will bring up to $800.
A Finn capture (bolt in the white, "brown wood", mismatched, [SA] marked on the receiver and magazine) will bring about $100-$200 more.
An unrefurbished Russian (bolt in the white, stamped matching numbers, all numbers[bolt, carrier, receiver, stock, magazine] match) will bring $1000.00+.

A real sniper will add $100+ to the above prices.  A sniper with an original scope and mount is a ~$3000 rifle.

All the above pricing depends on condition.

The key is to sell it where the "junkies" are....sell it on www.gunboards.com, or on one of the auction boards (gunbroker seems to do better on SVT's)

BTW, the "Sniper rails" are on most SVT-40's.  That does *not* mean they are "sniper rifles".  The true sign that an SVT is/was a sniper is the sniper notch on the top rear of the receiver for the scope mount's locking key.

The SVT40 is a sweet rifle...I've got one or two of these myself....
