Can anyone tell me what height rings I would need to mount a 40mm scope on a K-31 with a clamp on mount? I do not have the mount yet, just trying to get as much info as possible first. Thanks, Jdman

I believe mine are mid height. They measure .620 from the top of the scope base to the barrel of the scope. I am using a 6x40 scope.

Main thing to remember is they use the rimfire dovetail sized (3/8") rings and not the standard weavers.  I think I used high rings to mount a 3-9x40 Vari-X-II on my Steel St Marie Mount.  Problem was finding a good steel construction pretty rugged set of rings in that size of dovetail.  I can't remember what mine area but I got em from Grafs when I ordered the base.  I've shot numerous 3/4-1" groups at 200 yards with GP11.  Thus far i've not been able to get my handloads that good with hunting type bullets (165 gr SSTs) but i've not tried Bergers or SMKs yet.  Those swiss rifles have one heck of a short leade.  Still, mine put a deer in the freezer this winter with the SST's.  One shot kill, massive exit wound through the ribs.

I love these rifles.  I've got three but only shoot one.  The St Marie/Swiss Products mount is awesome.  I should buy another in case they ever quit making them.  I wouldn't use any other brand of mount.  They're available at www.grafs.com.

Thanks for the info guys. I can't wait to get a scope on mine to see what it can really do. I shot a sub-1 inch 4 shot group with mine off of sandbags with the irons the first time I shot it. I was really impressed to say the least! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do it again, lol. Those irons just leave something to be desired for me.  I feel like the rifle is capable of even better accuracy, if I can just do my part. I also want to work up some handloads and use it for deer next year. Jdman

I know what you mean. This is the same rifle before I scoped it. Three shots in one hole, one left and two high. If I had not lifted the two up top the group would have been about 1 1/2 inches. Gotta love these K31s.
