Where can I buy 1903's? I can find M-Ns, K31s, K98s and M1s easily, but no 1903s.

Decent M1903s are fairly difficult to find. I managed to find a nice one last year fom a guy in Annapolis, MD. You need to check the EE often, as well Gunbroker. Expect to pay between $600-$700 (possibly more) for a nice rifle.

I have a real nice 1.1 million SA 1903 with really nice cartouched stock, 7-42 SA barrel that gauges 3.5 and 1 at the muzzle. I would take $550 for it. If you would be interested please shoot me an email at [email protected] and i will get you some pics.
Thanks!

I checked CMP and the wait was very long, probably get an M1 over it. What are you guys experience with a 1903 v. and M1? I am probably going to get an M44 M-N first because they are cheap. Would a K31, K98, M-N 91/30 or an Enfield No.4 Mark 1 be comparable? Ammo is not an issue because no matter what rifle I buy the surplus has dried up (except 7.62x54R). 8MM seems elusive though.

Wait for the CMP. Thats the best bet. They just need some TLC to be brought back. Got one of the Greek returns a while back, black finish and a hashed stock. Blasted and parked it myself and applied some used motor oil and grease for that green patina, slapped on a new C stock, Looks like an arsenal rebuild now!http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/DINO212/2007_1030M19030001.jpghttp://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/DINO212/2007_1030M19030003.jpghttp://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/DINO212/2007_1030M19030002.jpghttp://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/DINO212/M1903NEW.jpghttp://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/DINO212/M1903NEW5.jpghttp://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/DINO212/M1903NEW4.jpghttp://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/DINO212/M1903NEW2.jpg

Unfortunately that is January of 2009.  I was shooting one a couple weeks ago, and got the fever, but as was mentioned, they aren't as cheap/easily accessible as the Mosin's, Mausers, etc.  I think in the meantime, I will end up with a Mosin, and wait until CMP sells them again.

That is a nice looking weapon.   How does it shoot ?    What kind of groups can you shoot with CMP surplus ammunition ?

Guns shows, EE, online sites.  If you can get to either of the 2 per year big Tulsa shows you will have your pick from many.
