It's an FN made Mauser with IOB on the bridge. Not much else to go on - it's part of a shooting trophy...

Thanks!

IOB was a private company in Dutch Indonesia. Its a security carbine similar in features to those issued to Dutch municipal police directly following WW2. It should be 8x57mm.
Its shown in both Mauser Bolt Rifles by Robt. Ball and Mauser Bolt Action Military Rifles by Ludwig Olsen. I'm going from memory this early. I can check further later..

The problem is the barrel appears too long. What length is it?

What does the plaque say?

Not sure on the barrel length - I'll have to check on that.

I can't read the bit of the plaque with 'xxx' as the sun is refelcting on it in the photo. The rest says:

The 'xxx' Perpetual Trophy Kindly Donated By Wiltshire Small Arms In 1988 Redesignated In The Year 2000 As The Civilian Methuen Rifle Trophy

The shields on it have the names of the winning teams.

ETA Muzzle to bolt face is about 18".

IOB = Inlandse Ondernemers Bond

The carbine is of the M1948 pattern and the IOB carbines were purchased at the same time as the Netherlands municipal police carbines that are usually marked Gem Pol (Geemente Police = municipal police) and sometimes with a city abbreviation A'dam for Amsterdam and with a J for Queen Juliana or a W for Queen Wilhemina on the receiver ring.

This photo is from a Dutch book <dohhh> and is from Papua, New Guinea but the carbine model is the same..

So the way this carbine is mounted on this trophy has nothing to do with the origin of the carbine. I hadn't noticed initially that you're in the land of the Engels.

That portion of the receiver where the IOB is stamped is called the receiver ring. The bridge is the rear portion of the receiver where the stripper clip guide is located.  I know the English call things different because I owned a Triumph T100C motorcycle many years ago and went shopping one day for a tommy bar after consulting the factory manual. I never found one.
