I just got a 7.62 Enfield. The wood is in good shape, but all the metal is covered in black paint. What is the best method for getting the old paint off? I thought mabye some paint stripper might work.

Never-dull works for taking paint off of brass and skin, I dont know how well it will work on painted steel.

There's several types of black paint.  Some of it comes off easily.  Some is much harder to remove.

Paint stripper sounds like a plan to me.

I disassembled my Ishy Enfield and sprayed the barrel assembly down with Gunscrubber.
It had the black paint bubbling up in no time.

A little elbow grease and I had most of it off.
On the paint that didn't come off right away the Gunscrubber has made the paint gooey, so I brushed on some Hoppes #9, let it sit and scrubbed it off with a brass brush.

I sprayed it with carb cleaner and that is getting the last bit of stubborn paint and mung off of the receiver and barrel.

Tomorrow the stock gets the Cosmoline cooker.

I never thought about Gunscrubber. I just happen to have a can.
