I take it that it will take a little more than brake cleaner to get the chrome off the rifles. If I understand correctly these are still shooters. What is the expense to get the chrome off?

to get chrome off you need to go to a chroming business and have then strip it in their chemical baths. it is not for the lay person to do without screwing up the parts. generally for decorative chroming the part is usually copper plated, and then the chrome is plated over the top of the copper plating. both need to be removed. advntrjnky |
What??? no BLING-BLING on your rifle??? just kidding.. call a local plating shop and pick thier brain. |

Make sure the rifle is not welded and the SN is not lower than 800,000 on SA rifles and 250,000 on RIA and SC rifles. go to www.m1903.com for more info. |
C- for passing some bad info. 285, 507 or below for RIA recievers. All SC recievers are generally safe to shoot barring welding for a drill rifle or other destructive changes. In the old days you used a dime to flake the chrome off bit by bit. |
I have a high SN (975K) SA M1903A1, so go away. ![]() |
