Im seeing "handpick $10" all over the place from different suppliers, some even stating terms of handpick (best of 5, etc.).

Being kinda new to the "unseen used gun market", Im wondering other peoples track record on handpick.

I've done it twice, once with SOG and once with AIM, got nice rifles both times. I'll probably do it again because I've had good experiences with it.

i have never bought a C&R sight unseen..BUT, when i do i will pay for the
hand select. i think the -best of 5- is where they look at the next five rifles
in line and hand pick from these five.
my friend always pays the hand select fee and has yet to get a rifle he
wasnt happy with

I've done it a few times and can't complain. Haven't got any pure beauties either. I kinda think it's just a marketing gimmick though. A lot of the rifles I've bought from Aim or Classic, etc, come in boxes that still have the importer (Century or Samco usually) sealing tape on them uncut. I really wonder if these rifles are inspected after they leave the importer or does Century just keep some specifically to the wholesaler as "handpick" guns.

Well for the extra 10 bucks, I've done it a few times and been happy each time.  Considering the types of rifles that can be had for around $100, an extra 10 bucks isn't so bad.

Some people complain that it's a BS charge and it MIGHT be.

But since I can't see the rack of guns and pick the best one myself, I think the $10 charge is well worth it.

It is not a guarantee that you'll get a super one but it does make it more likely.

Is Handpick really worth it?

Sure, if it's my hand doing the picking.  Otherwise, seems like free money to the vendor.
