Shot the mosin quite a bit today, and a couple of times i noticed that the neck of the ejected case was cracked or split.  I was shooting wolf bimetal 147gr FMJ.  Is there a safety issue I should be concerned about here?  Or is occasional neck splitting normal?

I bet my Mosins have split 100 cases with no ill effects.  I think it has to do with the generous military chambers and the inability of the steel case to effectively expand to the chamber.

Happens all the time here as well. No issues thus far.

It happens.
If you want, try chucking a length of cleaning rod in a power drill with a 20 gauge bore brush and cleaning your chamber up.

Brass-cased Albanian is also know to split.  Doesn't matter with a Mosin.  Head separations are a different matter.

No prob there, pretty much the norm for me, maybe 1 split neck in every 30 rounds or so. Alot more with the brass Albanian and copper washed 80's Polish. I haven't shot much of my wolf Bi-metal, so I cannot really say much to that.

Shooting done with a mix of 91/30 and M38

As long as the neck is not splitting past the shoulder it should be ok.
