Does the ATF usually do home interviews/inspections as part of a C&R application?

I applied for mine and now I have an agent coming to my house to interivew me and check out my 'operation' before they continue on with the application.

I also need to make sure the city has no laws/ordnances against FFLs in residential areas.

Wow never heard of them doing a home inspection for a C&R.  Are you sure you filled out the right form??

Not here in FL.  Just $30 and had mine in about 4 weeks.  They did interview me for my 01 FFL and they DO check city and county ordinances and laws.  At least the ATF investigator did with me.

Got the right form filled out.

The agent told me it was for the C&R license and they have to make sure I know all the rules and what record keeping I need to maintain.

Its been about 4 weeks already

Hmm.. that is strange.  Maybe something done by your state?  I know a lot of C&R guys here in FL, TX, and NM and none of them have had this home inspection.
Maybe ask in your hometown forum??  Just an idea.

I'm in NY and I got the home interview thing. Luckily the agent that came over was a young and very attractive female so I didn't mind!

My understanding is, if the ATF wants to audit a 03  licenseholder, the licenseholder has the option of have the audit done at the address listed on the license or at the ATF's office.

I have never heard of the ATF visiting a 03 applicant before the license is issued.  This is new to me.

Check out your "operation?"

So, the Agent wants to see a cosmo soaked Enfield stock in the bathtub covered with Easy-Off?  A coffee can full of Mauser parts and mineral spirits?

Yours and my tax dollars hard at work.  Thank god my license isn't up for renewal for a couple of years.

Good luck
