My brother asked me to take a look at his father-in-laws CZ-52.  He says that after a magazine is emptied the slide locks back.  After a new mag is inserted it doesn't strip the round off.  I don't see a slide release anywhere.  Are they supposed to do this?  He says it used to.  I stripped it down and it is still covered in cosmo.  I'm going to clean it up and see if it makes a difference.

I'm new to these, haven't even cleaned the one I got two weeks ago yet.

See that flat bar on the left side? That's the slide release

Get an extended slide release from Makarov.com

And while you're there, get some nice grips

Like I said, I'm really new to the CZ.

There's some good info on that webpage, much appreciated.

'52s don't technically have a slide release. They have a slide stop, but not a release. You have to tug on the slide to get it to close after you load a fresh mag.

Technically correct about no slide release per se.   All you've gotta do is pull the slide rearward and release it.......simply a matter of getting used to the system.   The mag release is on the base too.....very unlike most modern designs.....once you turn on to it you'll find it works just as quickly as the alternate designs.
