| I think it is three band, I know it says Harpers Ferry on tne reciever and has a date I believe it is 1861. I haven't seen the rifle in years. I think when you say patchbox you are talking about those metal hinged pieces on the side of the stock. it has those. as for the sight i cannot remember. I will see about getting some pics. on here, if you think it would help. thanks. |
Ask him if he'll sell it to YOU. |
Third little pictogram from the right, directly below where I'm typing, (the reply box). When you click on it now all you have to do is "paste" the image address and it'll do it for you and insert it into your post. Or you can do it youself by simply typing [ img]picture address.jpg, (without the spaces I placed in the begining or end "brackets". Mike |

Hey kahrk....... You sent me an IM, but have your computer set to not accept IMs or e-mails. This is not so good for someone trying to answer IMs or e-mails received, suggest you fix this before sending out any more of either..... Here's my response:
Okay, some sites like Bushmaster and others (whom are supporters) would not mind if you linked a picture off their website to show in a post here, but that 's the exception nowdays...... Most pictures on others websites would consider this "stealing their bandwidth" so best to avoid this by having your own "picture hosting service". As a gold member I have a photo storage account here and that's where I "host" my pics. Generally you will need a simlar "hosting" company to host your pictures, (which is on the web) as you CANNOT post a picture directly from your own home or business computer, (nor would you want to as hackers could use that opening to gain access to your personal computer..., not a good thing) Hope this is helpful, Mike |
e-mail the pic to me at : I'll post it here for you. Mike |

kahrk-9, found a couple rifles here at these two GunsAmerica links, which are similar to your rifle. www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976613670.htm www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976716287.htm (note: these were located by using the Search there at GA and typing "1842 Musket") YMMV, but before I sold this old rifle, I'd probably give a couple of these old musket dealers (several collector type dealers listed there) a call to more accurately assess what this old musket is worth... Maybe you can find someone close and have the rifle appraised by someone more knowledgeable as I don't know much about these old items. Mike |
