Hi, a friend of mine has a luger pistol his dad gave him from ww2.
It is marked with a fancey looking "DWM" on top of the slide, and stamped 1920 on the chamber, it also has what looks like 3 eagles on the right side of the slide, does anyone know what the eagles are?
or anything else about a pistol like this? my buddys dad just passed away last year and so now this stuff if becoming a curiosity to us.
thanks, joe

If it has a year, it was a Luger made for the military.

1920 is the year it was made by DWM.

The Eagles would be Waffen Amts.  Look closly, they should be sitting on a circle with a Swasika.

These are acceptance proofmarks.

Depending on condition, it can be worth a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$.

Thanks, we can't tell what the eagles are on though, on the left the eagle is all thats left, the middle one is on a circle, the right one is on whats left of a cirlce, if their was a swastika, they are worn off or something.
I read a post on a diffirent web-site that said the date stamp on the chamber was a re-issue date. it does look newer than all the other markings, and is it possible that the eagles are the imperial eagles from the kaiser era and the pistol was originally a WW1 pistol? or no?
thanks again, joe

The date might be.  Off the top of my head I don't remember what year is the last year for DWM marked weapons.
