UTG bug buster is built like a tank.  Gets high marks from rimfirecentral(dot)com.  I have one on my TD 10/22 but haven't signed it in yet.

I have, on my Marlin Model 60, a Simmons .22 Mag 3-9x32 with an adjustable objective.  It's a wonderful scope, and I have no complaints about it.

Nikon Rimfire 4x or 2-7x, depending on what you want to do with it. Fantastic scopes, especially for the price.

I really like my Mueller 4.5x14 APT.  A little bit more than some of the other scopes that have been listed here, but overall its a very nice scope.

Rimfire scopes for squirrels and small game are hard to hold steady in the field shooting offhand if high powered, and rimfire hunting trajectory is about 75 yards max.

The scope needs to have rimfire specific parallax of 50 or no more than 60 yards, or have adjustable parallax, like side focus or adjustable objective.

A good 4x is all you need, but a 2-7x is perfect.  Stay small and light.  More than 7x on a hunting rimfire is not necessary and just adds weight that affects the handling of the rifle.

If on a budget, Nikon Prostaff.  To do it right, Leupold FX -1 4x28 rimfire or VX-1 2-7x28 rimfire.  In between is the Weaver Classic Rimfire series in 4x and 2.5-7x.

The Leupold rimfires at about $200-230 are well worth the price.

Rimfire scopes should be at the same quality level as centerfire.

I don't know what your budget is, but my favorite rimfire scope is the Leupold VX-2 (4-12X40). 4X isn't too much for hunting IMO and 12X is a good magnification to push out to 50-100yards for non-benchrest range shooting. There are a couple reticles available, I went with the fine duplex. I hate scopes where the reticle is so thick it covers up large portions of the target. The fine duplex allows precise shots but isn't so thin it gets lost IME.

Being a Leupold it is of course very well built and the glass is great.. Available in black & silver as well....

VX-2 with Warne Maxima QD rings on a KIDD Classic.....

I think I have the same optic.  It is a Simmons Pro Target or something.  It is very nice, but I need more magnification for 100M shots with my RAR so am thinking about getting something cheap that is more powerful.  50M is a joke with that rifle using even bulk ammo and I want to see better what I am hitting with reactive paper targets at 100M.

I just picked up a diamondback HP 2-8x32 BDC for my new 10/22.
I didn't want a rimfire scope because I tend to swap scopes around a lot and I wanted to leave my options open. I also wanted something with adjustable parallax so I wouldn't have any issues at 25-50 yards and the 2-8 adjusts down to 20 yards. The 32mm objective let me mount it ultra low and the 8x magnification is perfect for what I intend to use it for.

Vortex has the best warranty out there as well so I'm always covered no matter what.

You can't find a squirrel in the scope with a high magnification. Even 4x can be too much if the squirrel is in a tree and you're under it looking for fur in your scope. Like mentioned 2x7 would be ideal. I like Leupold rimfire scopes. Don't buy a high powered rifle scope parallax free at 100 yards but a rimfire scope. High magnification for targets but lower powers for hunting.

Nikon rimfire scopes are really nice. Especially when they are on sale.

Keep an eye on Amazon and Natchez for good deals.

I have a BSA Sweet 22. It's a really nice scope for the money. Turrets turn solid. Is a bit heavy. But has adjustable parallax and comes with 3 turrets for different bullet weights. I paid just under $50 for mine.

Any opinions on the Bushnell AR Optics Drop Zone-22?  It's 2-7 with adjustable parallax.

This. Hell, I have a Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44mm on my .17hmr, and it works beautifully. It worked just as well on the 10/22 it had been on previously; I just couldn't go above 5x or so closer than about 25 or 30 yds.

This is a rimfire Leupold  2-7x28mm on my Remington 541S.  7x is plenty and it stays down at 4x or lower for squirrels.  It is easy to over magnify on a . 22LR unless itvus a bench gun.
