I have a marlin 917vs in hm2 that I want to rechamber for HMR. The .17s .22 and .22mag were all build off the same gun so actions etc are the same. The magwell just needs to be converted to the .22mag longer version with a couple cheap parts and i have to relocate the extractor to get it from the .22 magwell which is how it is setup now. I am going to ream out the chamber but wanted to clarify headspace issues on the rimfire. With rimfires they headspace off the rim and chamber face/boltface not the shoulder. With the hmr that has a shoulder, is the correct procedure to ream the chamber until there is no gap between the Front Cartridge Rim and the face of the chamber? Since the headspace is already set between the bolt and the rim as long as chamber is reamed deep enough to seat the bullet fully it should be correct depth? Or am i missing something. |
