Hello all, I have looked and looked and I cannot find 22 WRF ammo in stock. It is for my great grandfathers 1890 Winchester rifle and I'd like to get my hands on some so my father and I can shoot it.

Any ideas where to find some? I know it hasn't been made since the ammo crisis and I have no idea if it is going to be made again. Any help is welcome, thank you.

I'm pretty sure 22 WMR is not the same as 22 WRF. I could very well be wrong though.

On a side note (not wanting to hijack the thread), if you own a manually operated rifle (bolt, lever, pump, etc) or revolver in .22WMR you can fire .22 WRF ammo in them.  This being much like firing a .22 short in a .22 long rifle firearm.  I was about 13 or 14 when the .22 WMR cartridge was introduced and I remember articles in the gun mags stating this fact.  It all confused me because at the time all I knew about was .22 short, long and lr rimfire ammo.  Here was a new cartridge being introduced, the .22 WMR, and they were also referencing a cartridge called a .22 WRF that I had never heard of.  There's been a lot of water pass under the bridge since then.

There are small runs of this ammo here and there. I see it a lot at Cabelas

Outdoor Limited $23 box of 50.
