I've been thinking about picking up one of the Ruger American Rimfire Compact .22's then having the barrel threaded and the front sight moved back.  Has anyone out there done this and if so what did it run you and how do you like it? I'm thinking though that if I waited a year or so that Ruger will come out with one threaded from the factory.

I'd love a factory 16" threaded American.

I almost bought the Savage but taking 10/22 mags is a big plus considering I've got piles of 10 and 25 round mags.

thanks for this post. I've been looking for a host for my suppressor and I think I'll buy a RAR and send it to them.

What all did you send them? Just the barrel?

Based on Ruger's other recent offerings, I think one just needs to be patient for a factory threaded barrel.   I put off buying the savage as the Ruger feels more like a real gun and I have a ton of 10/22 mags...
