I'm currently looking for a .22LR bolt action rifle with a threaded barrel. I would like to keep this below the $500 mark. Had I been looking a few years back, I would have chose the CZ 452 American with a threaded barrel, but I cannot find the discontinued model for sale online anywhere. Any other thoughts? I'm not biased against wood or synthetic stocks, but I would prefer a black barrel if possible to match the suppressor (SS Sparrow). Thanks all.

Both of these rifles shoot better than my Anshutz and Kidd supergrade.

link is not hot but copy/paste will do. i have a mark II fv and it is stoooopid accurite. was goofing off at the range a few months back and i got bored with the targets. started picking dirt clods the size of squirrel heads and nailing them off every time....at 100 yards. cci sub sonics are very consistent at that range through my mk II.

So, switch out the factory stock to a Boyd's Tacticool, add a Harris bipod and decent scope, and call it a day?

Right.  DIP for bottom metal, and a little glassbed near the bottom metal to reinforce the thin wood there.  Be ready to replace the wood screw with one from the hardware store.  The shallow threads on the DIP one can strip out of the wood.

Mine does 0.5" 5-shot groups at 50y with cheap aguila SV ammo, with the occasional single fliers and lucky 0.3" groups. 100y groups are typically like 1.1-1.2"

I've been looking for the 452 but no one seems to want to let theirs go. My next best option would be the 455. I know many have said it needs a replacement trigger or YoDave kit. Has anyone handled one with a synthetic stock? If so, does it need replacing or is it GTG?

I recently got a Cz 452 threaded from either Lipseys or Buds. It was around $300. They dont call it threaded barrel, but rather something else?

I love the Savage, but the Cz is just a lot smoother. We will have the Leopard stocks back in inventory in early August for both.

CZ 452s are nice (had one of those too).  Sexy little guns do make the Savages look cheap. (Ok, so they are cheap!)

The yodave trigger kit will lighten up and reduce creep on the trigger, but they also make the rifle unsafe IMHO (rifle can/will go off if dropped on the buttstock), just FYI. Some people are ok with that, I was not.

Ejector on the CZs destroyed two of my cleaning rods, sharp little bugger.

Mine was an CZ 452 FS and had really bad 1st shot/cold bore fliers.  Not typical for brand, but even so my Savage FVSR shoots a little better even after the CZ's cold bore issue (after free floating the CZ stock, even after a set of tubbs final finish)

Does the dip not hurt the wood of the stock? I mean soaking the wood stock completely in water. Did you seal it first or anything? I've been thinking real hard about doing MultiCam on my TRRSR

BS on the lazer comment.

I do not have any lazers that drop 1.74 mils at 100 yards.

I'm not sure what you mean by synthetic stocked ones (I'm not aware of any of the 455s coming with Synthetic stocks except for the Manners or the Tacticool), but my CZ started life as a 452 Silhouette. 22" barrel and black plastic stock w/ monte carlo comb.

From what I've seen/read/handled, all of the 455s leave the factory with about the same trigger.

Barrel was cut back to 18.5, and the stock was painted by yours truly.

The factory trigger isn't bad by any means, but a $25 yodave kit and 45 minutes makes it freaking sweet. Mine's just a hair over 2.5lbs

ETA: Scope now has a 25MOA DIP base a Leupold low rings instead of the CZ452 rings.

Wolf match in my gun drops 2.1 mils at 100yrds.

Who shoots HV ammo now-a-days anyway? It doesn't nearly have the same giggle effect with my can.
