| Picked one up for my 9 year old son. He went with me on my last range trip and shot my grandfathers old bolt action 22 but it was far to long for him to get a good sight picture. Cant wait for him to see this one. |

I bought a Crickett for my daughter. She outgrew it fast. Not only does the single shot get old, but also haveing to manually cock it every time too. I found it extremely difficult to load the chamber through the small port with my adult fingers. You also have to get the nose of the round well into the chamber as there is no ramp to guide it in if you just drop the round in the port and close the bolt. It just jams if you do that. Overall it felt like a cheaply made gun and the built in lock was way to easy to accidenlty engage at the range since it just has to be pushed in form the bottom to render the gun inoperable. If you don't have the key with you, then the range trip is over for them. This happened to me once then I kept a key in my range bag. Still a pain though to have to keep unlocking it because the button got pushed in by bumping it on something on the bench. I would not reccomend the Crickett rifle for a kid's first gun. I got my daughter a Lever action henry rifle to replace it and she likes it better until she tried my SIG 522. Now she just loves to shoot my Savage MK II TRR SR since it is so accurate at 100 yards. |
