I have read that its not good store 22lr ammo for long term.  Fact or fiction?  How do you store your ammo?  How long is to long to store?  What brand would be better for long term storage?

In my case long term would be 5 to 10 years + or until shtf.

I have some 50+ year old .22LR and it still goes bang.

Grandpa has some from the 40's and 50's that worked just fine, and it was kept in the laundry room in its original boxes; FWIW...

I have some that went through the 1977 Johnstown, PA flood.  It was thoroughly soaked, but my dad got a really good deal so he bought a bit.  It hasn't been stored in any special manner (after the initial drying out) and 99% of them still go bang.  No squibs but there are some under powered rounds occasionally.  Not sure on brand, but if it was underwater and then stored in a sack in the garage for 35 years and works almost as good as my CCI, I think most normal storage methods will suffice.  YMMV.

If you're concerned, store it in an ammo can with desiccant.

The only time I have had a problem is after storing some .22lr in my center console for a few years. All the bumps and temperature swings made is so a few more than normal would be FTF. I have two 50rd boxes left from a 500rd brick of CCI that is from the 60's, I opened the brick 2 years ago and have not a a FTF with it yet.

I concur, I had a 1936 Burgo .22lr revolver as a kid and the ammo that came with it was from the 50's and 60's.
Some of it very corroded, but not a single FTF.

Heat and vibration ruins rimfire ammo.  Keep it cool and in controlled environment.

^^^ agreed, I have some 22LR that I bought 20 years ago that still shoots fine, no FTE/FTF. Just store it in a cool/dry, vibration free area and it will be fine when you need it.
