Picked one up NIB today, wondering if they normally come missing the plug screws for the scope mount. I've bought other .22 rifles that required the scope base to be purchased separately, but all have had the receiver holes plugged. This one had no scope mount in the box and no screws plugging the holes in the receiver. Do they normally come this way, or is it something I should call Savage about?

Mine came with the scope bases attached, but without Iron sites.  If yours has irons the screws should have been in the holes, without the bases

Just got off the phone with Savage, the rifle is not supposed to come with bases OR plug screws in the holes-that pisses me off. If a company is going to drill holes in a gun and tap them, they should at least put plug screws in to protect the threads. I'd have happily paid $5 more for the rifle to have had protected holes.
Not to mention, when I asked them if the rifle was supposed to have included one or the other, the tech actually SPELLED no. A bit unprofessional in my book.
