I purchased a new Marlin .22 (model 795) this weekend from the local Gander Mountain.  It was on sale, came with a scope, scope rings and a 10rd mag.  ($139.99) I thought it would be a nice little plinker and i was right.  I had a great time just getting it zeroed and taking some challenging shots, the best part is that I shot about 300 rounds through it and it cost less than $15 in ammo!!
Now my question is, can I get high cap preban mags since I live in NY?  I have came across a few in the EE but they specify that they are for either Ruger or Remington and I also read that .22 mags can fit one brand rifle and not another.  A problem I rarely encounter with the AR's.  Any advice/input?
Thanks!!

Errr, you're comparing apples to oranges man.  The rifle you bought is not a 10/22, it's a Marlin model 795.  10/22 is a model of Ruger .22 caliber carbine, not a general design that lots of manufacturers produce like an AR.  This is akin to likening a Mini-14 to an AR just because they are both semi-auto rifles that shoot .223.

ok, my bad...i wouldn't make that mistake with the mini-14 and the AR....22's are not my territory. ANYWAY....does anyone know about high cap mags and their fit into any .22?? is it true that if it fits a Ruger it may not fit a Remington or Marlin? or anything of the sort?? Just because it fits this does not mean it fits that....unlike AR's where my GI prebans fit my S&W, Stag and Bushmaster lower all the same....
Thanks...

I don't know the laws of NY but if you want to find out more about your rifle i.e. what type of mags are available for it, checkout the Marlin board at Rimfirecentral
