So I've got about 100-150 rounds through my mk2, just random plinking mostly, anyway....

I was going to adjust the trigger so I got out the directions, and removed the stock and found the bolt to have some serious peening going on

Is this normal?  Or should I send this back to savage for a fix?

I didn't end up getting the trigger adjusted anyway (I lost the tool )

So 30-some people have no insight into this?

Mine looks like that as well.  I have 100rds or so through it.  I asked at the savage section at rimfire central.  Apparently it is normal when breaking in.  I'm going to smooth it off with a stone after 500rds or so.  That is what a member said he does.  Oh and I don't know if yours is the same but my mkii trigger was adjusted to be as light as it can be from the factory.  I'm going to the post office tomorrow.  If you promise to mail it back in a timely manner I can mail you the tool for adjusting the trigger.  If you want me to just IM your address.

Thanks for the offer on the tool, my buddy has the same rifle, I'll just borrow his (his is new so I don't know if his has the same "peening" on the bolt)
Mine deffinitely didn't come adjusted as light as possible

Mine did the same thing –– probably have 500 through it, but it did it long before the 500 mark was reached.

Stone it smooth, you say? I may do that.

Both of mt MKII's have several hundred rounds through them. One is the Bull Barreled model with tha accu-trigger & the other one isn't. I adjusted both triggers before I even shot the rifles for the first time. I guess I'll check the bolts to see if any peening is going on.
