Im looking at starting a new 10/22 build but I have a few questions.
1) Where can I get a fluted bull barrel w/ the end threaded for a suppressor? Tacsol is one possibility. http://www.tacticalsol.com/store/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=17 2) Whats your thoughts on the Boyds Barracuda Stock? Whatever you prefer. I used a Hogue, but that is me. 3) 22LR or 22 Mag? .22 LR. The .22 mag is out of production 4) Best receiver, trigger group, and bolt? You can get an inexpensive 10-22 and strip it and use the receiver, or you can find a receiver from a vendor or an aftermarket receiver. There are plenty of choices. The best trigger group is the Kidd. Nothing else is close. CDC has bolts. You can get your bolt modified, or but a complete bolt from them. After changing out everything but the receiver in my 10-22 build, I bought a bare Ruger receiver and built up a box stock gun with the spare parts. |
| My experience with the 10-22 is only with the stock Ruger receiver. The other ones look good, particularly the steel ones like VQ, but unlike most rifles, the receiver of the 10-22 really only has to house the parts. It doesn't need to support the barrel. 10-22s are often bedded to the barrel, with the receiver free floating and cantilevered off the barrel, so structural strength in the receiver isn't required. The built in scope rails can't hurt, but Loctite works, too. |
