They look like they would be a plain ole hoot to own and shoot, but I know nothing about them personally.  Always wanted one though.

I got mine in the summer of 94 just as the original AWB bill was gaining momentum in the Klintonista congress.  Its a really simple blowback design with a simple disassembly.  I fired entire bricks of CCI blazers through it without a cleaning and it worked fine.  I liked its breakdown ability and lightweight a lot.

I believe that Feather Industries is indeed out of business.  However, the product line was taken over by Feather USA.  I have a Feather Industries version of the AT-22 which I sent to Feather USA for a little refurbishment December of last year.  It's a very small operation, but they were nice folks to deal with.

One thing I had them do was to replace the pistol grip and trigger assembly with their improved version.  At about $40-50, it was well worth it.  I also purchased a RAV-45ACP rifle from Feather USA last April.  Again, it was a pleasant transaction.  They don't seem to ever update their website, but the feature that attracted me to the RAV-45 was that it is now designed to use Glock magazines (although it does not yet say so on their site!).

Regarding the AT-22:  It is a very accurate little rifle (actually, so is the RAV-45).  It doesn't operate worth a damn with bulk 22lr ammo, but mine runs just great on Mini-mags.  You have to take a little care inserting the magazine, as their design does not lock it into place as solidly as any other magazine fed rifle I've ever shot.  I don't find this to be much of a problem once you learn to be a little gentle when inserting the magazine.

All-in-all, I find this rifle to be a whole lot of fun to shoot.  It needs more cleaning than a 10/22 requires, but it's not hard to take down and reassemble.  It's very light and compact when the barrel is removed and the stock collapsed.  It really is a good little 22 for backpacking purposes.

One important note:  the Feather USA model (called the RAV-22) does not have a collapsible rear stock.  It is a post-ban configuration.  The rear stock is removed and inserted into holes through the forend handguard for storage.  Take a look at the video at their website:  http://www.featherusa.com/  -TB
