| I'm looking to get the barrel cut two inches and threaded 1/2-28. I've gotten it down to the receiver and barrel, and I have driven out the pin retaining the barrel. The barrel still will not budge. What am I missing that needs to be done to finish separating the two? |

A 12 ton press? Its pressed in there pretty good, from what I hear, they are a real PITA to get out. I guess I would try pressing it out just like getting the barrel out of the front trunnion on an AK. Good luck, let us know how it turns out. I was thinking about getting a match chamber cut in mine, but didn't know if I'd be able to get it apart... or back together. |

I had mine threaded and the smith built a simple jig to fit in the receiver and left it on the barrel. This kept him from putting the receiver end in the lathe chuck. Threads were fine. don't waste your time trying to pull the barrel. If the smith can thread a barrel, he can make a jig to ohld the receiver. |
| I agree, got mine back from the smith a couple weeks ago, took him a barreled action, had it threaded 1/2-28 and a custom knurled thread protector made, bead blasted and hot blued. Cost a buck and a quarter for flawless work and never seperated the reciever from the barrel. |
| Ive slipped some aluminum tubing over the barrel and then driven the barrel out with a brass drift before. Worked fine, getting the barrel back and timed correctly is a pita. If I was going to rebarrel them more often I would take a few tenths off the barrel and loctite it in like anschutz does. |
