Well, I've dealt with it for awhile, but with the price of .223 being way over $200 shipped for a case of Wolf, I'm going to be dusting off the .22's (along with buying a new GSG-5 Here's my problem: I got my Marlin when I was, like, 12 or 13. I'm 21 (about a month away from turning 22) now. The little Stainless Model 60 has more rounds through it than I could begin to count, probably way over 10,000, I'd even say over 15,000rds, easily (that's only 2 boxes a year so that's probably a VERY conservative estimate). In the last year or two, I've been plagued with great numbers of FTFeed, FTFire, and failures to fully eject (bolt catching the case halfway out and crunching it). I've detail stripped her as much as I could and cleaned her up to the point that she looked new on the inside to no avail. She still doesn't run like she should. It's rather rare to get through a tube (14rds) without some sort of failure. The problems I've had with her are what lead be to buy the GSG instead of dusting off the 60 instead. Do any of you guys with older 60's have any tips to get her up and running again? Selling it isn't an option. It's the first gun I ever bought (well, my dad bought it for me, I was too young at the time). I bought it because my dad had an old Glenfield 60 when he was a kid. He still has it too. Thanks guys. |

you might want to check out HERE. You might have problem with the feedthroat. You can call marlin with your Ser# and they can send you one if it is infact the problem. Check out the above link first though. |

first , you must clean the bejesus out of the bbl / action / chamber area. pull the action out, and just soak it in some break cleaner, then blow out, or rinse out with hot, fast running water. then oil everything a bit. the chamber face has a slot around the edge of it, also two little notches, for the ejector/ectractor clip thingies to fit into. you may need a dental pick to clean these areas out. next, when you take out the action turn it upside down, and you will see a long , very hard wire, that fits into a notch in the side of the frame. the tip of this wire, points down into the chamber area when put back in. this is the ejector wire, take a needle nose, and bend it slighty more up, and centerwards, pointing into the chamber, bend it in front of where the wire fits into the frame notch. This wire is 100 percent in control of the ejecting of the round. If after all the above, it is still not feeding correctly , i would do one of two things, get another bolt assy., or get another feed throat assy., you can get them both from marlin, just have your serial number handy, as they will need it to get you the right age parts. |

I had a buddy come over last year with his model 60, he said it wouldn't shoot. I was surprised at just how dirty it was. Anyway, here are two sites that helped when it came to cleaning it, http://www.castbullet.com/misc/m60.htm http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?threadid=86314 One other thing I did to his after we cleaned it was to use a teflon spray lube as we put it back together. The kind that has no oil in it so it doesn't attract dirt. mutwagn |
| My did the same thing it would eject maybe half the time and catch halfway forward. My recoil spring rod was bent. Roll the rod on a flat surface. Mine was barely bent and that caused the only problems I have ever had with my 60. They are easy to bend when reassembling, I now have an extra on hand. |
