I am sure this has been asked many times before so forgive me...

What it the cleanest burning 22 ammo?

In my experience, CCI Mini-Mags and Remington Golden bullet .22LR's are the cleanest burning. Stay away from the cheap bulk packed Wally World stuff and any Winchester rimfires.

You must be using a different Remington golden bullet.  In my experience Remington Golden bullets are one of the dirtiest rounds out there, second only to Remington Thunderbolts.

CCI minimags are really clean, same with most Aguila ammo.  For bulk stuff, the fed 550 bulk packs aren't very dirty, same with Winchester Dynapoints.

I haven't fired any of the Remington golden bullets in years, but the last time I did I didn't remember them being dirty burning. Maybe they changed something. I primarily shoot CCI mini mags and Blazers now. Winchester ammo always leaves a bunch of unburned powder kernels gunking up the actions on my semi auto .22's, but they are fine in a bolt action or single shot. The Federal bulk packed stuff does burn fairly clean, but it doesn't cycle any of my semi autos, they all turn into manually operated repeaters with this ammo. My suggestion is to buy a box of every type of .22 LR ammo that suits your needs and test them all out. When you find one that you and your rifle likes, stick with it.
