I am thinking about getting a .22.

What do you guys know about these rifles? I saw one at a gun store and it looks like a neat little rifle.

Thanks for your input.

I love mine.  I can post a pic or two if you want, but its nothing fancy at the moment.  Just an OD walther with a factory walther rubber armored scope on it.

I like mine so much I sold both my modded 10/22's.  The only thing, is its slightly harder to clean.  It doesnt bother me now, but it takes a couple times to get used to it.  But its very accurate, I like how it feels on my shoulder, it looks sweet, and I have yet to get a malfunction out of it.  Great partner to my P22

Being a lefty, I love the fact that I could get a bullpup in left hand with selling a kidney. No malfunctions so far and I am sending it out o have the barrel threaded

ive never shot one but from the impressions i got while handling one at the NRA convention, i didnt much care for it. felt rather klunky and i didn't like that it had it's own exclusive magazines, which i dont think anyone makes hicaps for.

but i havent had any thorough experience with it, so take my 2 cents with a gain of salt

i had one of the first ones, feed problems and the fact that you can't fire it without ear protection, it is very easy to convert from left to right handed.

why cant you fire without ear protection?  I do all the time.  Its no worse than any other 22 Ive ever shot, actually I think its quieter.

you do realize that any .22 rifle will cause hearing damage, right?

i own a G22.  it's allright, i guess.  it's a total pain in the ass to clean, and there are plenty of small parts to lose.  it also has feeding problems with most cheaper ammunition.  and i would have prefered that there not be so much plastic in the construction.

with that said, the smaller package of a 20" bullpup rifle is nice.  it's shorter than my m4 with it's stock collapsed.    it's light, and there is plenty of space to mount optics  and accesories.  i've only put ~600 rounds through it in the year that i've had it, so i can't really vouch for how well it holds up to heavy use.

I've had mine for well over a year now, and have put clost to 3k rounds in it with no problems whatsoever. I've been shooting mostly Remmington Subsonics through it, and have nothine but praise for the rifle.

As others have said, cleaning it is a pain, but as with everything else, it gets easier with practice. The only complaint I would have about the rifle is that the composite material used for the handle/rail does not handle heavier optics all that well.

Forgot to add.  Smith's customer service is EXCELLENT.  Lost the little infamous spring the very first cleaning, called the guy up and he sent me one + two spares for free, and I had them in two days.  Loaned it to a buddy to shoot coons with this winter, and he somehow managed to lose the cocking handle.  Again, called and replacement was sent free, and recieved in two days.  Cant beat that.
