Hey everyone, never owned a 10/22 or any rimfire rifle for that matter but I just picked up a 10/22 brand new never fired with scope already set up but not zeroed on a whim.  I got the whole package for $120 from a co-worker who had to sell it because his wife was pissed as hell that he bought a rifle without consulting her.  His loss my gain but I have a few questions.  The tab at the front of the trigger guard.....What does it do?  And does the 10/22 have a bolt hold open function like an AR?  Any help would be great.  Thanks :):):)

The tab is the bolt hold open.

Yes, that's the bolt holdopen, but it works manually only, not on the last shot in the mag.

Here's the place to go to ask anything you can think of about 10/22:

You've truly pickex up a great piece. The 10/22 is the AR of the rimfire world, so to speak; the options and modifications available for the 10/22 are limitless.

I can see what you are talking about.  I'm already looking to swap out chargine handles and get a folding stock And I thought my AK project and AR project consumed me  Thanks for the link BTW.  I'll post pics when I'm done with my "complete" project.
