I'm joining my school's rifle team and was wondering what your recommendations for good target .22s are. Just trying to get an idea on how different ones compare in the different price ranges.

It all depends what you want to spend.  I am happy shooting vintage Mossbergs and Remingtons that sell in the $250 - $350ish range.  The CMP has excellent deals right now with mossberg 144US rifles at $299 with sights and H&R model 12 single shots at $295, with the model 12 you will spend another $100 to $200 on sights.  As for commerical fare, no one really makes a decent one domestically anymore.  Anschutz is the cream of the crop and they are pricy.  The Russian rifles from EAA are also quite good and a bit more reasonable but we are now talking in the $800+ price category.  I will tell you however that the vintage Remington 513T and Mossberg 144LS-B that I own are capable of greater accuracy than I am and both have won more than their share of titles and honors over the past 4 or 5 decades.

What are the equipment regulations/limitations for the league in which your school competes?

for competition on an intermediate or junior level, the anschutz model 1903 is a perfect beginner's rifle.

if you are of high school or college age and plan on shooting position rifles or free rifles, look for a model 1907 or 1913.

will you be shooting nra or issf type matches?

You can try and track down an old Winchester 52C or 52D.
Hard to find, but mine will give an Anshutz a run for its money.  (Not the 2013, but its pretty close)

If NE Ohio, we can steer some things into your hands for a test drive ;)

I found a stash of Rem 540XR Targets for $340ish the other year.
