| I bought my first Tec-22 (Sport-22) a while back but have just gotten around to shooting the thing recently. In the last 3 weeks I have probably put 500 rounds through it. After first receiving the pistol I was impressed with the shape it was in especially for being close to 10 years old I paid $115 which in my opinion was a good deal. When I first took it out I loaded up the factory 10 round mag and couldnt get a single round to chamber. I next loaded up a factory 10/22 ruger mag and it chambered fine I shot off the first shot and the top cover poped up I was like WTF placed it back down and fired off a second shot and did the same thing, I decided to take it home and look it over. When I got home I noticed a little metal hook that a little spring loaded button clips onto to hold it shut was bent forward I bent the little hook back 1/8" and took it back out to shoot it and it actually stayed in place. I was using some Ramline 50 round mags and it would jam about once per mag. I then oiled it with some 10w-30 motor oil instead of the original Rem-Oil and it seemed like the thicker motor oil made a difference I have since put four mags through it without a single jam. The only thing to watch for while shooting it is to keep the mag pushed forward since if you pull the mag back it will surely cause it to jam. All I can say is for as much shit that is talked on these little guns they can actually be alot of fun for the price. If you are interested and can find one for $150 or less I would say go for it. |

I have had mine for a while now and always have a blast with it. Mine has the barrel extension that I got with it a long time ago. I'm looking for the compensator now. Right Click, Save as Here for Video ![]() |
I like that one on top how did you do the scope mount? Did you drill some holes in the top cover and then just screw a weaver mount on? |
No, after much searching - by both phone and Internet - I finally stumbled across an original factory scope mount for the TEC-22. They are rare as hen's teeth, but they were made back when the gun was still in production. I haven't been able to locate another one. The one I found was in a lot (eBay auction, before the whole anti-gun thing) with a bunch of other TEC parts, including an extra complete top cover. So I have the one pictured with mount & sight, plus an extra for that gun with just the original sights - easy/quick to swap them out. |
