I have an idea for wanting to get a large messenger bag and carry in it a rifle/handgun pair that shares a caliber (ps90/FiveseveN , sub2000/glock , etc etc). What would any of you suggest or have you possibly used for this? I'm assuming I will need some kind of stiff insert to go into the messenger bag that I would then need to attach the firearms to with velcro straps or something similar. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Not exactly your chosen situation, but I have SneakyBag that looks like a laptop bag. Mulled over the purchase for a number of years due to price point, but am impressed with the final product.

Less money than Vertx, much, much nicer quality than 5.11. YMMV.

I have tried using Bulldog cases or lawn chair bags but the SneakyBag was a good balance of features.

thanks for the tip, i wasnt aware of any other messenger bags available that were that large. Do you have the ToT bag or one of the other ones?

The Vertx A-Range bag top capartment fits the Sub-2000 folded, and then you can mount your pistol, mags, etc in the fold down zipper compartment with the reinforced plastic walls.  Plus you have two trays that pull out to hold your ammo.

Would be perfect for that gun combo and comes from the factory with the velcro lined inner walls for mounting gear.

That looks like an awesome range bag but this would be something i carried out with me, i think that would draw a little more attention than I would want (compared to a normal looking messenger bag) but thanks for the advice. I do need to look into the best place to get velcro backed holsters and mag holders though since it seems no matter which direction i go those will be needed as well.

.063 black HDPE sheets from Grangier, cut to size/shape. Lowes/Homedepo velco tape. Probably less than $20-30 total. I used this on a previous backpack.
