Is there info on a release date? Any huge benefits compared to the original jpc?

It's already out through Crye's website.  Its now has a quick release, front flap panel is sold separately, has a drag handle, and it has the rear zipper to attach their rear panels and it's way more expensive.  It also fits a wider selection of plates.

JPC 2

I hope this helps.

Biggest benefit is to Crye's profit margin.

Yea the only thing is it looks good for using a chest rig like the haley strategic one which I don't have.

I've used the JPC, JPC 2.0, CPC, and Crye AVS. The 1.0 really cracked the code for a bullets and bangs type plate carrier. It's minimalist construction limited you, but in a good way. You couldn't load it up, which is good, because loaded up it wasn't terribly comfortable for long periods of time. I jumped on the 2.0 when it came out, because it had a lot of the features that I felt the 1.0 lacked. Modular front flaps, zip on rear panels, drag handle, and rear Velcro. I had my 2.0 for a week then I sent it back. The add ons were double edged, for me at least, because I now had modularity, I was trying to push the JPC beyond what it was really good at. Returned it and put my money towards a Crye AVS in assault configuration. Very, very pleased with it. Less bulky than the CPC I had on loan for T&E, much, much more supportive than the JPC. Personally for me, I feel the AVS is Crye's best PC. Still though, I did keep my 1.0 - it's mostly relegated to PT now, but I still break it out once in a while if we are going to be in very tight spaces or have a very low profile. Just my own experiences, not the gospel by any means.

Thanks for the input. I have a SKD PIG and wanted the jpc for something a little more minimalist. I'll prolly try and snag an original jpc.

Lots of good minimalist carriers. I have a PIG Brigadine and its a great scalable rig. Tactical Tailor makes hook backed mag pouches that work great while keeping the bulk down. There is also the Grey Ghost plate carrier for a more traditional MOLLE covered carrier.
