Let me start by saying I know I have zero need for hard plate , so a full plate rig is useless it will sag or just be too hot
I use to have a TAG Banshee and got rid of it , it was rediculously hot and didnt fit right without plates when loaded. I have a Haley D3 chest rig that I had a TT pack snapped into it , my problem is the the lack of side panels at all and stupid long straps flapping around.and It wont be staying around either . I am looking for something like the Eagle Industries Rhodesian but with a back on it BUT they dont make that anymore . I cant be the only guy who wants a light rig that has some degree of sides on it ... Suggestions ? |

BFG RACKminus
And when you are thinking of dumping the D3 shoot me an IM. |

Or the Crye Airlite have both been calling my name for a while. |

The HSGI Woosatch is similar in thought to the Eagle RRV+back plate carrier: http://www.skdtac.com/HSGI-Woosatch-Plate-Carrier-p/hsg.504.htm |

the D3CR does have a hydropanel accessory - you just need to know where to look. but seeing as though you bought one without fully meting out your requirements against its featureset, I would submit that its a failure of requirements assessment I know it does , and the TT pack does clip into it , my bigger issue is the lack of side panels . Yes its a failure on my part , its also part of a trial and error to see what works best and feels best for my application. |

What about the Esstac Bush Boar or Trim Bush? Seems like those have sides on them. Can't speak from experience though. +1 I have the boar and yes they do have sides. They are great and I've had very good luck with it, they carry the load well and the Kywi mag pouch's are awesome. |

Been really pleased with some pouches I have from them. |

Attaching a pack or a hydro carrier to one's PC or vest is asking for needless hassles. Usually somewhat difficult to detach, and almost impossible to easily and quickly re-attach without either doffing underlying PC or vest, or having a buddy help out.
I'll take shoulder straps and a sternum strap anytime over an attached rig. Easy donning and doffing comes in very handy, not least when using vehicles. |

Note that the Crye unit is designed to attach to matching Crye PC, and apparently does not ordinarily come with shoulder straps which would allow it to be a stand-alone unit. The similar BFG unit does come with detachable shoulder straps, and so has the capability of being a stand-alone unit, or attached to a PC. Down Range Gear sells the attachment clips to allow doing so with either rig when attaching to a vest/PC that lacks female attachment clips. When comparing the rigs, see if the Crye has accessory shoulder straps and figure that into the comparison price. Both BFG and Crye are well-regarded generally. |

Been really pleased with some pouches I have from them. Yeah I have the Boar A1 (split front), I later bought the harness and hydration carrier. I don't usually carry eight mags but the pouchs lay flat when empty. The split front is great, makes going prone for extended periods much more comfortable with out taking your rig off just open it on both sides of you. The harness is really comfortable I'd get that again and the hydration carrier works well and is super easy to put on or take off if you some times carry a pack and don't want that extra hydration. The hole system is bomb proof and like I said before the mag pouch's are awesome. Plus if you want to shoot a 762 rifle you just have to pull the Velcro mag pouchs off the inside and swap them out. |

I recently bought a BFG SplitMinus http://www.skdtac.com/Blue-Force-Gear-SPLITminus-Chest-Rig-p/bfg.516.htm, and rigged it with four two-cell pouches originally intended for 2X2 AR mags, but which I modified to accept 20-rd 7.62 M1A/FAL mags. http://www.supplycaptain.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_ID=1004&ParentCat=66. Eight of these mags might be a bit much, but the padded, low-profile shoulder straps on the BFG rig are promising. I can always remove two of the mag pouches (probably the ones nearest the split front, and substitute single mag pouches, for a total of six mags. Time will tell. As it is, I have it rigged to attach to the front of my LBT 6094RS PC, as is my USGI AR mag panel (8 AR mags). Just clip and go. I always retain the OEM, stand-alone shoulder harness, either in a small frag pouch mounted somewhere on the rig, or in an internal pocket if such is available. Always available, and can't get lost. Easy to ditch if required, but otherwise not noticeable weight-wise. The vertically oriented QASM clips needed to set all this up are available from Down Range Gear, https://downrangegear.wordpress.com/down-range-gear-complete-product-portfolio/, as are a lot of other clever PALS-related items.
FWIW, I posted a "Deal Alert" some time ago about the abovementioned mag pouches. They are well made, and priced stupid low, considering their quality. Read the review. |
