So, I have a customer that has a square cut rear plate he got from another vender. I don't want to turn this into a "hate on SKD's armor policy thread," I get beat up on that already, and it has to do with things out of my control.
SKD does not currently sell any Square cut plate carriers as most of our contracts and the other gear we carry is generally for milspec type gear/ armor.
I would like to point this guy in the right direction so he can purchase a Plate carrier from some somebody else that is quality. I haven't been able to find something that I would wear to combat, so I'm leery of recommending Company XYZ. Does anyone have any good suggestions so I can help this guy out? He already has the plates, and most companies (including where he purchased from) will not let you simply return armor, so getting ESAPI or Swimmer type plates is out of the question for him.  I know a LOT about gear, but this one escapes me.

Any help? Thanks, in advance.

I suggest he contact the mfr and/or vendor of the square plate, and ask them where he can buy carriers for it.

Aside from what Raf said (which strikes me as probably the best course), the only armor I can think of that's anything approaching "modern" and is designed for more rectangular plates is probably the old Ranger Body Armor.

LTC makes square plates. Although I've never used one of their square plates they do make a lot of the plates for different "manufacturers" and it should be the same quality as their shooter or sapi cut plates.

I have some LTC 27100's that fit comfortably in my Banshee's with IIIA backers. I personally don't prefer square cut plates, but I could easily make this setup work.
Feel free to PM me if you would like to see pictures.
You guys have always been cool to me, so I'm more than happy to help!

Generally any of the vests that accepted plates from the top would take the rectangular ones, that design was pretty common in the 90's and early GWOT.

What about Grey ghost's MPC?
The top corners are open so that might work.
Is square cut completely square or more rectangular?

Maybe the Crye AVS or CPC. Haven't tried, they lust look squared off.

Can't the LBT 6094 take squared off plate in the rear?  The rear carrier always looked like it could to me but I've never handled one to know for sure.

Thanks Guys. I have a few options to point him in. I appreciate the help a ton.  The Grey Ghost MPC looks like a good shot. The plates are square/ rectangle cut 10X12. they were purchased from a place with long murky history on AR15.com. I don't think they will be much help, post sale. I checked out the LBT 6094 but I can't find a solid answer on square cut plates. The crye is more than likely more than he wants to spend, but also worth a shot for him.

Much appreciated.

I had an LBT 6094.  I dont see any reason why it wouldnt accept the square plate in the rear....the rear is not tapered or anything for a specific plate shape, just relative size.

Just checked my LBT 6094A, and the back panel is not tapered for any specific plate or anything.  The area you see on the back panel is pretty much the area open in the inside.
