I could use some advice on how to carry a first aid kit.

Currently I've got a first aid kit built in a Condor EMT Rip-Away pouch (manufacturer pics below)

My intention was to setup a single first aid kit that was easy to re-locate so the same kit could do double-duty both for paintball / truck kit / shtf. This is easy to re-locate, but I'm concerned it would be hard to re-attach to my gear if I needed to use it and then re-attach it.

Currently I've got a beltMinus with mags on my right side, flashlight and multitool on my left side, and this first aid kit on my left side behind the hip. I can easily take the pouch off one-handed, but it would be hard to put back.

Anyone know of a better way?

Can't you just stuff the excess med supplies into a cargo pocket and move on? That's the idea behind the SOTECH Viper and the LBT-9022B designs-- if you need the contents of an IFAK, chances are you will be using most of the supplies in it anyways, so you shouldn't have that much stuff to  repack. Just throw the rest into a cargo pocket and replenish it when you get a chance.

The kit's too bulky for that. Basically I've got the equivalent of two and a half IFAK's in that.

I figure I'm much more likely to need it at a vehicle accident (possibly with multiple people fucked up) than any kind of zombie SHTF stuff. I'm just a regular civilian.

I see! In that case, why not consider a bag like the Tactical First Responder Bag or NARP's Squad Bag? This is what I use when I'm working events that need more than a single IFAK's worth of content, but can still treat about 2-4 serious casualties. Best of all, you can flip it around when you need to use it and flip it back when you don't. The belt is very low profile.
