A friend of mine bought a load of stuff and in it was what appeared to be a new Avon M53 Gas mask. Neither he nor I know anything about them. How much is it worth? I did a Google search and found that they aren't real common..... Can anyone tell me anything about them other than what I can find on WIKI? How much should I offer him for it? I don't really have a "need" for a gas mask, but it's pretty cool.

The M53 is around $1,000 depending on what options you get with it. I have the C50 in my SHTF kit, and it's pretty damn great. When you compare it to the Israeli style mask, it's on another level as far as comfort and visibility. Add in the different outserts (mine came with the sunglasses), voice projection, and air systems, and you can't go wrong. If you can get it for a good price, I say go for it.
