I have both.
The OR are a bit sturdier and have the rubberized pads adding a bit of grip. The material around the fingers also feels thicker. The PIG (I have the ones that work on electronics screen) feel thinner yet the suede-ish material on the palm/fingers would offer less grip than the OR but are designed for dexterity and to be able to work on a cell phone screen/ipad/ipod, etc. You have a bit of a trade off as you have with all gloves. The OR are overall sturdier, but the PIG give you more feel. Both have kept my hands warm in 30ish degree temps but the OR did a bit better. Both also work well to protect your hands from all the stuff you would otherwise get caught on your hands/fingers from climbing cliffs in the Utah desert as well as all the prickly shit everywhere. If I'm going somewhere where my hands will be on the terrain alot or expect to get my hands beat up, I wear the OR. If I will mainly be using my weapon and adjusting gear, PIG. |

thanks for the review. is 35 bucks the cheapest they can be had? Yeah, PIG is SKDs in-house brand, so that's the only place/price you are going to get them at, unless they have a sale or coupon code. I have a pair of the PIG gloves and absolutely love them. I wore Mechanix before and the difference in dexterity is night and day. While you trade that dexterity for some durability, I'll take that trade if you're going to be shooting a pistol while wearing gloves. |

After 5-6 outings to the range, they tend to develop tears. I'm afraid to image what that means for PIG's durability. |

I normally run a pair of mechanix wear, but bought a pair of PIGs to try out. Honestly, I can't tell a huge difference, but I haven't had a chance to run the PIGs in a class yet. I use the Vent versions since it gets so hot here in the south. Mechanix wear Vent |

Gloves are a disposable item, that being said I find my Mechanix usually last 6-8 months on average with normal to hard use before they tear. I generally shoot weekly in them, rolling around on the ground, diving down and such. I have no experience first hand with the PIGs but have a few friends running them. They seem very nice. Just not $35 nice IMO. I'm sure when SKD has a sale maybe Memorial Day Ill get a pair, the grass is always greener... |

I love the simple issued flyers gloves, for the pure and simple fact that they are thin and I got issued bunches of them on deployment, and I average 2 months of hard use out of them, unless I do something stupid (like grab something that is burning. Quickest way to mess up the leather on the palm and fingers). That being said, I use gloves rarely enough now that I can justify buying truly good ones.
Anyways, I measured myself for the PIG gloves, and I am sitting right in the middle of medium for finger length and just barely into the large size for hand circumfrance. I'm guessing that means I should go with the mediums and let them stretch a bit? |

I do like Mechanix though, they are tough to beat for the money. |

If you like Mechanix in general and are not put off by price, look into these.
MECHANIX TEAM ISSUE Leather palm & fingers with heat/fire protection fabric. Originally designed for racing pit crew teams. Way better construction quality then their usual offerings. Fits tight for good tactile feel. Three levels of protection. Level 1,5 & 10. Order direct from Mechanix. You will not find in stores. |

I bought two pair of XL Tan/Brown Camelbak Racing NT gloves for $9.99/pr including priority mail. http://www.ebay.com/itm/370946294237?var=640150772622&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 I removed the extended wrist sleeves on one pair for warmer weather, everyday driving use, kept the other pair long for winter use. There are several other Hatch, Camelbak, Mechanix, etc gloves on sale http://stores.ebay.com/Botach/_i.html?_fsub=3519699017 I paid for them Christmas day, they shipped out on the 26th and I had them on Saturday 28th. |

I know a lot of people run Mechanix and love them. It completely baffles me how a glove with a felt-like grip/palm is a good thing...I can't stand it. More slippery than anything.
I use Hatch Specialist gloves for shooting/precision work. I use cheap HF leather work gloves for yard work. I use Alpine Stars snowmobile gloves for cold weather/work. -Emt1581 |

I have mediums, and small would be perfect. I wear them in the winter with liners and they are good for that....they are a sort of thick. I have Wiley X hard knuckle, and Oakley. I love the Wiley X by far the best I own. And will be getting more IF I CAN WEAR THEM OUT. The hard knuckles are good for knocking around and banging against things. But do suck for getting into pockets while wearing them. But great dexterity. YMMV |
