So if I have ever gone shooting I have been using a shooting vest and stuffing mags where shotgun shells or just shooting off a bench. Well I'm wanting to join a range and it will allow me to do more stuff. budget is crap right now but I'll buy piece by piece
what should I get to use? War belt chest rig or plate carrier BTW I am leaning to the war belt because its the new "thing" in the tactical world its almost christmas so I'll have some money then |

It's been around forever. The only thing that's new is the molle belt platform. Get a good belt. Like Ares, OSOE, Emdom. Get a couple of ITW fast mags. |

It was a new "thing" because it had plastic buckles instead of the metal ones that the GI's had on their new "thing" warbelts in WWII. Now, that said...what I took from that clusterfuck of a post is that you are looking for something besides a shooting vest to use when at the range. Is a shotgun your primary weapon, or is it a rifle, or combination thereof? Do you have or do you want to add a pistol to the belt in the future. Do you have plates already or were you thinking of just using a plate carrier to mount your gear on? |

Sorry lol I have a hunting vest that holds shotgun shells in webbed pockets I stuff mags in there, I use that when I go coyote hunting it has work so far but I want something for range use and for classes. Hence why I wanted your guys opinion I have no clue what this stuff is and have been trying to read and learn everything today...... sorry but don't bite my head off
Edit: more info I will be running an AR want two or more mag pouches, run my handgun with two reloads and that's it. of course I don't know what the need or use of any other pouches are if i'm only going to use this at the range and classes...... if in the future if I have a decent amount of funds I will get a PC with armor and all the fancies but I want a clean and simple set up. |

Ok...now we're getting somewhere.
Get a HSGI Small AO or OSOE M4/AK chest rig. I like these because of the dual purpose pouches. The can hold AK, AR and Shotgun cards and more. Of course, there are other options, as well. I suggest taking a look at the SKD Tactical web page to get an idea of the various designs. Other manufacturers include: Esstac, US Grunt Gear, Tactical Tailor, and a whole lot more I can't think of right now. |

Get a belt first
How tight is your budget? Are we talking $40 ATS belt and $4 surplus M4 pouches? Do you only have an AR or will you be employing other platforms as well? If so, take a hard look at TACO mag pouches. Otherwise, I like Esstac short kywis but fastmags will work as well. Awesome grammar by the way

OK here is some more info, I have three belts for carry a don Hume, a black hawk bdu belt, and some sort of duty that is to big for my holsters I like to get one of those Ares ranger belts but if corba riggers belt would work with a padded molle belt I'll do that because its cheaper
If a chest rig, what holster would be good to pair with it? I like gcodes offering but don't like the wait, is there any other buy now options? I like the tacos, if I'm doing the belt I will probably do the double decker ones to save room and cost. What do you think? I have a ton of questions but I'm trying to hit the big ones |

Double decker rifle tacos are WAY too wide IMHO. they make getting in a vehicle, through a doorway etc that much harder. What is your waist size? I'm a 36 and I have two pistol mags, two rifle mags, and a dump pouch easily accessible with my weak side. I have a cobra buckle on my suregrip belt. I think it was like $140 total. Quoted:
budget is crap right now So clearly this is a relative phrase as 'crap budgets' don't usually allow for TACOs and Cobra bukcles. Clearly YMWV Good luck and post pics when it comes together |
