| I like the concept of this IFAK. I like the Mayflower version as well. Anyone here have any experience with either? I'm interested in volume and the claims you can sit comfortably with it. Is it hard to deploy and do the pull straps cause problems snagging? |

I'll be publishing my review on the osoe lpak which is quite similar to the viper. I drove around wearing my pc with the ifak on the back. I really like the concept. Nice! Really looking forward to your review. I like the concept too, especially since it takes that bulging IFAK and compresses it. If you have a chance, please try to address my questions with part of your review. I would appreciate it. |

It is a neat concept, and I have one. The only thing I would caution is make sure you don't have any real big bulges in it when you pack it, or it can get hard to pull the slider part out. Make sure you practice pulling it out. Which do you have, the SOTECH or OSOE version? I really like the Mayflower version too. So do you see an issue with wearing it on the back of a battle belt? That's where I want to put it. I am curious if you have ever had problems with the pull handles snagging on something. |

I have the sotech amd it is mounted on the low back of my plate carrier sort of nestled under the lower half of my hydration carrier. I dont run a molle battle belt. It is going to be more awkward to deploy than an ifak up front as you have to reach behind you, but being that you can pull with either hand better than having it on your left or right rear "kidney area", as if you have an injured or immobile arm you can still get at it. I havent run in enough real world through the brush or climbing in and out of vehicles to have an issue snagging, but i dont really see it as more of an issue than having pouches and gear aticking out all over if you get my meaning. I tried doing my review in a more user friendly environment. This was a test run but feel free to check it.out here!
Happy reading. Ooda |

I read the whole review, twice. I like the concept. I must say I'm a bit suspicious of loops getting caught on things, though, despite your assurances. I agree that the price point is rather high, even for OSOE, who are known for well-made kit, and prices to match.
I wonder about placement on the dorsal side of the individual. Instinct says to roll on one's back in distress, and most first responders will do that if only to have access to airway and to interact with the wounded person. Mounting on the user's front might be better. Good review, and good , multiple pix. I would suggest placing a clearly visible, and easily readable ruler or tape measure alongside the object, for instant reference purposes, although stating critical dimensions in text is still required. You did not mention if you paid for the pouch. If you did so, then that adds credibility. If not, then credibility suffers. No offense intended. Good review overall. |

Raf,
Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I'm still working out the kinks on getting the best review format down. I truly appreciate all the feedback I can get, even at the expense of people hating my reviews, as long as they tell me why they hate them. This was sent to me for a review. I have quite a few products sent to me each week. I couldn't afford to buy all the gear that is sent to me to review without my wife kickin my butt. As far as placement on the dorsal side, my opinion based on training and experience, is that the benefits outweigh the risk. One thing that starts way before the first bullet flies is mindset. Just because you are shot, regardless of how bad, doesn't take you out of the fight. You shouldn't be on your back unless thats the only way you can get cover or you are physically unable to fight any longer. Stay in the fight, superior firepower is the best battlefield medicine. -ooda |
| I have one mounted to my PC. I got it because I am fat enough as it is and the standard kits stick out farther than I wanted. I wanted a slim setup as possible. With the SOTech mounted in the back I tuck the loops in so that they do not get snagged. Look at getting the smaller set of shears as the standard size do stick up a bit. The smaller set fit perfect. |
