Im thinking of building an HSGI drop leg rig for taking carbine/pistol classes and SHTF situations.  I want to build basically the costa leg rig but with the x2rp tacos.  They hold 2 ar mags and 1 pistol mag, instead of just one and one.  I want the added flexabilitly of being able to carry the 2 extra ar mags.  Does any body see any problems, pictures or comments on this set up.

My idea is that I want to run as light as possible and im trying to stay away from a chest rig. What do you guys think of the drop leg set up??  Or should I just get a low profile chest rig??   Other than playing a lot of paintball with various pod rigs, this is all new to me

why not just hang them off a belt? if your not wearing a chest rig or a large PC belt mounted would be the way to go.

I like the idea of the war belt, but it seems like it would be really hot around the waist.  That's why I was leaning towards the leg rig, I don't think it will be as bad around my leg.  But it is deff something I need to consider.  I want something I can leave set up, and can grab in a moments notice.

Decent belts have copious airflow. Check out ones that look like they have bumpers or a mesh liner. I wouldn't worry too much about heat, your leg and crotch would be getting hot too.

You could get a micro-rig (OSOE or equivalent).

Another thing to look at would be a Safariland ELS setup, a lot of 3-gun guys use it (I have one too). Gives you modularity and ability to run whatever you want (shotgun, pistol, rifle). TBH though, you can run just as fast for 3-gun with taco's for pistol and rifle.

Chances are your going to need a good belt to run a drop leg anyways so why not set up a belt rig and try it out. If it doesn't suit you all you have to do is buy the drop leg and attach it to your belt. I have the Emdom CM with pads and its comfy with no hot spots plus it is lower profile then some of the larger padded molle warbelts

Boy is that ever true. Any leg rig or drop holster should be worn as high as possible. Most likely the leg strap will be causing a bit of discomfort in the crotchular area.
