Would like some thoughts from the hive on this plate carrier with integrated level IIIA protection. Would it be recommended over say a yet to be determined "slick" plate carrier and some Midwest armor level iv plates?

Here are some older video reviews I did on the FAPC 2 and FAPC:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wDMEI8y2Qc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHfuSCFBprU If you poke around on Ebay you can often find them for a much better price than straight from DBT. I still use the original FAPC, and have run both. If you have any specific questions I should be able to answer them, just let me know. |

Good review on MM: http://www.militarymorons.com/equipment/protective.html I've owned both the fapc1 and 2. Both are well built and will last. There are 2 versions of the fapc2. I had a buckle break on my first gen. DBT wanted like 50 bucks plus shipping to fix it. I ended up supergluing it for the time being and it seems to hold up. Not a huge deal because I generally use the camel tan(carrier is brown) cummerbund I picked up on the cheap with it, but it would have been nice to use the carrier by itself with confidence. I dont think the fix will break, but I'm not inclined to risk it. I may end up trying to have it fixed locally if I can find the right size buckle. |

That is outrageous, most tac gear companies would have fixed it for free.... What size QD buckle is it? You might be able to get a repair (split slot) QD buckle to replace it. |

Thanks for the feedback. Found the carrier with sewn in IIIA soft armor backers for $199 (apparently DBT offered sewn in as an option at some point). Debating this carrier and adding a hard plate down the road, or the other option would be just getting the Midwest Armor Level IV standalone plates and plate carrier.
Apologies if grammar wasn't great on OP. English not first language, haha |
| I have wanted one of these for a while but seeing the perfect set up is hard. I would put some ar mag pouches and some pistol pouches on it and maybe a radio pouch and call it a day. but I havent seen it set up the way I like except for Tron his is almost exactly the way I want it but finding the pouches are hard. |
| I'll let you know in about a month. I just placed an order for a Large carrier in Ranger Green from US Tactical Supply. They have the best price I could find and their sales rep was very helpful and friendly. He told me the order times were running three to four weeks right now. I thought about the JPC as well, but this looks much more comfortable and adjustable. |

No armor is included with it. Quoted:

so does that price include the IIIIA inserts? Primary Arms has a bunch of US Palm Defenders in their Labor Day sale - $299 and includes front and rear IIIA inserts No armor is included with it. For $299 it should be with the soft armor, that is the retail price with soft armor at every other reseller... |
