| Recommend mil-spec or closest to mil-spec sturdy back pack. 3 day assault Molle rucksack would be fine. I do not need the size of genuine Molle II or III. I already got one. ACU, OD, Foliage or Multi-Cam. A bag that I can use to go to the range, put in my trunk as overnighter or as supplement to the II & III when SHTF. Most of the bags that I checked out (from Amazon) had a lot of discrepancies on their reviews. Mostly the zippers, stitching or flimsy inside linings are terrible. But I know there are just a couple good packs from Black Hawk, or from Condor. Although not all are satisfactory from the manufacturers. Please be specific models on your recommendations for me to do my research. Thanks. |

Check out the backpacks Eberlestock offers; I like how they incorporate a rifle bag and backpack together.

A little bit of creeping around the internet, you can find surplus BDU/DCU/ACU assault packs for $20-40. If it's going to just be a beater, that leaves more money for ammo. This is more to my liking. Genuine articles. Any specific site that I could check them out? |

I like unclesamsretailoutlet.com, though before I posted that previous comment I checked and wasn't able to find anything available there today. Check EE & ebay. Our own's http://store.oldgrouch.biz/ doesn't have any currently. The surplus sites usually get stuff in every month, just keep an eyeball out for them. I wouldn't spend any more than $35 shipped for one. This will be the style. They are floating around in BDU/DCU/ACU and multicam. The multicam/acu ones will be newer so maybe a little more expensive, but the BDU/DCU ones should be around $25ish. http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/ma1_ErJMzwn3VTmDyFZs55w.jpg http://www.armyproperty.com/Equipment-Info/Pictures/MOLLE-Assault-Pack.JPG http://i43.servimg.com/u/f43/17/43/73/56/desert10.jpg I already got this. I use this as my home bug out. I was looking for something smaller. In which I can use to put my work stuff or use as my personal bug out that I can put on the trunk. |

Do you have one? If so, and if you use it with to store an AR, is it able to store a carbine length AR without the stock sticking out of the top? Either way thank you for posting. I suspect one of these will be in my future. |

Look at the Marine Corp ILBE. You can find them cheap and they seem to be a top notch. A buddy of mine lives his. What is ILBE? This is an Improved Load Bearing Equipment Assault pack:http://stores.alleghenywholesale.com/-strse-1054/GEN-2-USMC-Assault/Detail.bok Lacks PALS webbing on the bottom. This smaller pack is first-rate construction, and has PALS webbing on the bottom, perfect for attaching a MOLLE waistpack for added room:http://www.supplycaptain.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_ID=621&ParentCat=66.. If desired, dye this unit with Rit Apple Green Dye for a summer, greenish pixelated camo pattern. Or this pack, which, considering the features, is a screaming deal:http://www.surplusplanet360.com/Protech-Engage-Tactical-Assault-Pack-Pt-0003.html This pack has a load-bearing, non-detachable waistbelt, and is adjustable for torso length. It will probably carry more weight and do so much more comfortably, than both of the two above combined. Has PALS webbing on the bottom. If desired, dye this with Rit Dark Green dye to give a greenish-khaki color with brown splotches still visible. All of these packs will last you if not terribly abused. Decide which one meets your needs and go for it. BTW, I own all three. Disclaimer: no financial interest. |

Let me give a +1 for the IBLE assault pack. I made mine into the "daddy diaper pack" and it is a workhorse. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't breathe well against your back, but it is a minor inconvenience. I think I got mine for $30-40. +2, actually make that +3. I have two of them (Gen 1 and 2), and I love 'em. Volume is good for the crap I want to carry (day hike, overnight would not be an issue if you pack properly), the shoulder straps are really comfortable, and it has just the right number of pockets (hydration bladder, main compartment, and front zipper pocket). Also, the pack is in MARPAT, which I like and it works very well around here. For the money- ~$40- you'll be hard-pressed to find a better deal. |

I was looking for Foliage Green. Along this line of posting links....how do you post the links? Do I have to have more threads? I tried the copy and paste...but it does not work. In fact, how do I post pics from my file as attachments? Please show me how. Or is there a link in AR15 for how-to post? Thank you. |
