The 1603 frame will require some modification be done by the user, so given that you are using the Med ALICE, the 1606 is probably optimal. Tactical Tailor makes an improved ALICE frame that might be of interest to you. The metal frames have a useful feature that might be important to you: with the addition of a clip-on metal Cargo Shelf and a couple of wrap-around cargo straps, the metal ALICE frame can easily carry a five-gal water/fuel can. If you use two Cargo Shelves, you can carry four 50-cal ammo boxes with little fuss. The plastic frames, which have their own advantages, are not nearly so easily set up for these tasks. FWIW, the metal ALICE frames can be retrofitted with MOLLE shoulder straps and waistbelts, making them far more comfortable and capable than their original version counterparts. |
