Hey guys I'm planning on picking up a Safariland holster to mount on my war belt. My question is, the model I want (SL 6304) made for a glock 21 with glock rails and a surefire X300 in tan, is a thigh ride holster and Id like to have it sit up higher on my leg, more so right below my belt instead of down on my thigh. How do I accomplish this? Tell you the truth I'm fairly confused by the whole safariland expierience. Pretty much I want a SL in tan thatll fit a glock 21 w/surefire X300, and to have it mounted below my belt closer to my hip than my thigh.
Thanks in advance for any help

Do you want the holster attached directly to your belt or ride higher on your leg? Sorry just a little confused.
ETA: Look here. Is this what your looking for? |

I do want it to drop down but not as far as a true thigh ride holster. Does that make sense? I'd like it to only drop about half the length of a thigh ride. |

No I'm not looking to attach it to molle. I have a suregrip HSGI belt with a cobra riggers belt, and I like the holster to drop down off the riggers belt just not as far down my leg as it does. Lol I feel like I'm having a hard time explaining this clearly.

You could cinch it up as high as you can and only use one leg strap. I see a lot of guys do this because using both straps sucks. In my experience the holster flops around too much. Or you could try a Safariland UBL which is a holster mount that allows you to wear the holster lower without the leg straps. There are drawbacks...the UBL can flex some and cause you difficulty with the draw. I found this site with a good explanation of the problems and a mod for the UBL to make it work better. I haven't tried it yet but it looks promising.

I'd like to still use one thigh strap and that looks perfect. I've seen guys running safariland holsters using 1 strap and at that height before and wondered how they did it! Is this the way everyone does it? I'm surprised they don't make a holster at this level of drop. |

Do you guys think this is another way to go?
A better option, or no? |

It looks like a decent option. |

Depending on how far down you want the holster, the DFA might be a decent solution - but only if the shroud from the 6304 is going to be down far enough. Personally, unless you're looking at adding stuff to the shroud (mag holster, etc) then I'd skip it because of the extra bulk.
I'd look at the 6285 and then add a strap per the ITS instructions. ~Bill |
