I'm looking to get a better set of knee pads. I currently have Alta and to be quite honest I despise them, they tend to slide, and wear the skin on my back knee like no other.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for a better set of knee pads that I can virtually do anything in and have them sit comfortably around my knees, not move and last for a while? -Dep |

There kind of a low key piece of gear.. Military moron has a good write up on them. I scored a pair dirt cheap last year and ran them in a three day carbine class. Prior to that, I ran Alta's with the buckle. They were very comfortable and the straps did not dig into the back of my knee's like the Alta's do. They stayed put. After awhile, I forgot I had them on. I like them way better then the Alta's.. good piece of gear. Only down side is the price . They are Arcteryx... |

I have been rocking the ArcT's for about two years now. The buckles on the newest model work way better than the old Gen 1 buckles (they only had black or black/ yellow knee caps back then). we finally started carrying their gear about a month ago and I have been waiting to pick up a pair of the FDE/Coyote Knee caps, but my old ones just have so much character.

last pads I picked up were a couple sets of crye Gen 3's for the combat pants - no regrets there but I'm picking up a set of the Arc-T's caps - wanted a set for awhile for use with other pants like woolrich elite's which I can't live without either. I've never come across anyone who had complaints of any sort when it comes to Arcteryx gear so I'm all in.........

My suggestion would be if you want a color other than black, go with the Arc, it comes in tan and green. If black is OK, then go with the BD, they're less expensive and you're not gaining anything by paying more. Just my .02 ~Bill |

Thank you all very much for your links and contributions. I decided to go with the Arc's, simply because I didn't mind forking out the extra dough, it looks like they offer just slightly a wider coverage around the knee with their pads and one of the testimonials from a guy in Afghanistan really sold them for me, so hopefully they won't disappoint  .
