| I currently have an Interceptor vest, but am looking to replace it with a plate carrier (feel free to offer opinions on this as well as I am not 100% decided on making the change). I need something in Multicam, I have level IV stand alone plates but want something made for IIIa soft armor as well. My main issue is my build, I am 5'11" 275lbs but with a 36" waist and 53" chest, I used to bodybuild and have maintained a lot of my size still. I am looking for a plate carrier that will offer some additional coverage and not look like a babies bib on me. I've noticed with some things that the only difference in XXXL over XXL or XL is just an increase in belly size, not any increase in chest measurement. Who makes a good plate carrier for the big boys? Also, what would I be likely to get for an Interceptor on the EE, it's in very good shape? Thanks in advance! |

Without going to like a stripped-down IOTV (no lumbar, armpit, throat, collar, groin or DAPS) with the larger soft armor panels and rifle plates, about the only choice you have is the Eagle PC with Cummerbund. The front and back take soft armor that is quite a bit larger than the actual ballistic plates, unlike some plate carriers that take a backer this is only an inch or two bigger on the sides than the actual rifle plates. If you don't mind a minimalist-sized backer, the Mayflower APC has different sized cummerbunds to adjust for best fit. The plate carrier is a compromise between protection and mobility. Sometimes better mobility, agility, speed and range of motion trumps wearing the 35lb freakin' turtle suit. |
| This Eagle PC looks like what I need, however they are apparently sold out of the X-large Multicam. Looks like with the soft armor I'll be into this for around 1K, not too bad I suppose. |
