Ok, I'm going back to school and need a sturdy backpack. It'll get heavy use for the next year and a half, then get put in the trunk for a BOB. The two I'm considering are the Maxpedition Condor II and the Tactical Tailor Urban Operator.  I'm not totally in love with either, so
if you've got any better options I'd love to hear them. I'd like to stay in the $100 area if possible.

Thanks for all the help.

Both of those are awesome packs, but if you want something else, I picked up a Bug Out Gear 3 Day Pass pack for school also. It's plenty big enough for my 15.4" laptop and a few textbooks, has plenty of pockets, and compression straps. I picked mine up at an Army PX for about $75. You can find them online anywhere from around $50 to about $115.

Manufacturer's site.

Packs

There's a 3 day pack from Sandpiper, it's basically the same thing and Sandpiper packs are good stuff anyway. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info. I might have to seriously consider that one.

Using the TT Urban Operator now, had the TT Enhanced Day Pack before this one. I'm not sure it's an upgrade, some things are better about the Urban Oper. but not everything. Both are pretty nice packs though.

Either Tactical Tailor pack listed on GreyGhostOutlet would probably work.

Those SDS packs on closeout at Entrygear(dot)com that raf always talks about are another option. I called about the Eagle Crossover listed on their website, and they are no longer for sale. That would have been a good option.

The Camelbak Urban Assault and Urban Transport are nice looking packs with areas for your laptop and admin stuff...

More civilian style packs would also work. The Camelbak Alpine Explorer can be had for $50 (look on Google Shopping). Various packs from Osprey, Deuter, Mountain Hardwear, and Gregory would work. Both the Surge and Base Camp Hot Shot from The North Face would also be good choices. .
