I have in my possession a new USMC IFAK, It is quite a bit better than what we had in the Army. Picked it up for a pretty decent price as I was looking for something to go with my Coyote kit. I have a concern about expiration dates, I know it is probably OK since it's vac sealed. How concerned should I be about it,and should I just return it and get something else?
That leads to Question 2, What are some better kits out there, I know their are plenty or should I just build my own? |

As far as the imprints, those are the dates the manufacturer will guarantee sterility (of supplies) or effectiveness (of medicines).
In the real world, as long as the package is intact and not showing signs of gross contamination (discoloration, package deterioration), you should be GTG for SHTF. ETA - just saw it's vac sealed. As long as the package is holding the seal you should be fine. Besides - we're not talking about using a cellophane wrapped WWI cravat...
