so, im looking at admin pouches...up till now i just stuffed everything into a GP pouch.

i was very interested in the TT Horizontal E&E pouch to fit the bill, but not available in RG, not sure if i want to go with multicam or not. I am also interested in the TT Milspec Monkey Stealth, also not avail in RG.  i have the HSGI Mini MAP on my pack and i think i like it there, for other things.

what do all of you use, and pics of course are welcome.

I really like the Maxpedition Monkey admin pouch. It has a lot of organization features and will hold a lot of junk. It is definitely bigger than it looks though. It comes in foliage green (not sure how close that is to RG).

Sorry, no good pics of mine.

I just got ahold of the Zulu Nylon CAOS.

I used the MilSpec monkey one last time I was in Iraq and it worked very well.  The only complaint I have is that is does not lay all the way open, so I went to the Zulu.

And a few years before that I used a Blackhawk one:

I am currently digging a HSGI set up I saw with their full size admin panel on the cummerbund with tacos over it (or to the side for lower profile).  I see myself looking in to that set up at some point.

i had the MCAP on my MTV, it was a little big for me.

i tried this as well, nice size for the RITR books but not much room for other misc items.

i found this http://www.bdstacticalgear.com/pd-bds-tactical-super-admin-pouch.cfm

i think this will fit my bill nicely, just the right amount of admin pouch w/GP pouch, and not too big that it covers close to my mags.

i also looked at that zulu, but it also seems a little big for my taste. looking back i think the stealth would have been the same, little too big for me.

That BDS Tactical admin pouch is pretty slick. I think I may be getting one for my new vest.

I use the HSGI Mini EOD pouch as my admin pouch. It's basically a utility pouch with tons of internal compartments. I can organize all my crap in there and still have room for my NVG's. This keep my chest slick for faster mag draws. I do love the Maxpedition stomper though..... tons of room and in the pullout I put my 9 line medevac for quick access. ( I know I should have that thing memorized and I mostly do except under pressure).

I plan on using the TT Enhanced Admin Pouch

Seems to have all I'm looking for in the pouch and has a pull out map pocket that comes in handy

Sorry for going off topic with this question, but would someone inform me as to the company who makes the rifle/pistol combo mag shingles?

And to get back on topic, I have the Maxpedition TRIAN Admin pouch on my PC.  I have only taken this set up out twice so far, but I have really found it to be useful.  If I can figure out how to post pics on here I'll edit this post later with pics.

TAG, HSGI and MANY other gear manufacturers make them.

I've used the SpecOps Brand op order logistics pouch, and liked it.  You can put a lot of stuff in there.  I had notebook, reference cards, pens, flashlights, all manner of stuff.

My opinion is that a lot of folks don't need them, unless they are leaders who have to have quick access to maps, or other folks who have to have access to other types of reference documents.

As with anything on the front of your body, the slimmer, the better.  At some point you will have to dive into prone, so never put anything in there that will get smashed by the one rock within 25 meters that your admin pouch falls onto.

IMHO, most of the stuff that most folks stuff into their admin pouches is better off kept in various pockets, and thus keeping the front of one's gear slick.

That said, and YMMV, of course, if you feel the need for an admin pouch, I'd advise one that had a good quality zipper.  Reason being that a lot of small stuff seems to migrate there, and if the pouch is
not zippered up tight, your items will somehow fall out of a simple flapped pouch.  Count on it, unless each and every one is dummy-corded.  Oh, and a big plus for dummy-cord attachment points too.
Finally, since the pouch has a zipper, make certain that the zipper is covered with some sort of flap that sheds water/precip.  Any zipper will leak sooner or later, and a good-sized flap over the whole zipper really helps slow down the ingress of precip/dust/gunk.  None of us properly waterproofs every single thing that somehow finds its way ito our admin pouches, so the less water that gets in, the better.  Did I mention drain grommets on the bottom, after one takes an unintended swim?

Good stuff raf. I agree, most folks dont need one. I used to carry a detached one in my cargo pocket instead of on my kit and liked it a lot. I gotta try one on my armor now though.

Here's one from spec-ops that is designed to fit into a pants cargo pocket or field jacket lower pocket––on sale, no less.

Might be a better spot for most stuff than on your chest, and keeping some stuff in the pants/field jacket pocket might let most folks get away with a much smaller chest admin pouch––or mebbe none at all.

I've got one of those organizers, and I like it for when im just about the base or fob.  But sometimes I've got other stuff in my cargo pockets, and it's just not practical, or you're in a vehicle and getting to those pockets are a pain.  Unless you're wearing the pilot pajama pants.  Having something I can just look down and zip open for is a lot easier.  Sure, it runs the risk of getting damaged.  Of course if you're that worried, you probably shouldn't be bringing it out with you.

i emailed TT and they said theyd be able to make one for me in RG...i think ill be going with that one, i wanted that since they covered it in marine times, i didnt know it was out already. its an inch shorter than the BDS one so i think it will give me good clearance on my mags and still be slim yet be able to hold what i need it to.

I like the idea of a HSGI Mini Map on a pack, its slick and holds what I need. But SOMEONE wants a trade instead of cash...

Well, you have a point, especially about when mounted and accessing cargo pockets.  OTOH, mebbe the smaller chest-pocket unit mentioned above, also by spec-ops, might fit the bill.

My point is that admin pouches are IMHO, a solution to a problem that most folks don't have.  YMMV, of course.

I dunno, I guess it really just depends on the Admin pouch, and what you use it for.  Admin pouches are really just a subset of GP pouches, and there are hundreds out there, of all various shapes and sizes.  And not all admin pouches are created equal.  I purchased the EGL Fugly Admin pouch, because of the envelope pocket and the ability to carry a smoke, and the pocket which i figured i might be able to fit a small pair of binocs in, which I could.  It really doesn't have any admin organization though.  And some are really tool pouches, for your multitool and flashlight.  Which in my opinion, never hurts to have on you.  And organization is nice.  Having what you need, and not having to dig for it.

I dunno, things like a pen/pencil, notebook never hurts to have on you.  Whether you need something like HSGI's Admin Pouch, or something like a Spec Ops Frontal Assault pouch is up to you.

Eh, I think everyone has a need for reference material of some kind. But I think too many people tend to put too much in them and like you said, lots of little things... Most folks could just get away with a small general utility pouch that you slap on for pogey bait and a notebook pencil.

It sure is nice to have a pouch that can hold all of the stuff you got rollin around in your pockets. I like to keep spare batteries in mine along with my notebook and pen. Having a place to store these in with some elastic bands to keep them in place is great. I also usually was working with a strip map and target identifier sheets and photos and a list of TRP's and such back when I was active duty. Having a place to keep them handy is a big plus to me. Wearing full kit it is hard to reach into BDU pants pockets sometimes, especially if you are seated or trying to stay low, and chest pockets are hard to get to under an IBA. having it right there when you need it all is nice.
